Virginia Republican embroiled in blackface scandal

Virginia Republicans claimed the moral high ground this week as a blackface scandal left the state’s Democratic leadership on the brink of implosion.

But now a racist yearbook has come back to haunt a top Republican.

It has emerged that Senate Majority Leader Tommy Norment edited a 1968 college publication containing slurs and blackface photos.

The bombshell comes after Virginia’s Republican party said top Democrats had lost the authority to govern.

Seems there was enough shoe polish to go around.

The uproar has shaken the state capitol in Richmond, which still grapples with its painful past as the capital of the pro-slavery Confederacy during the American Civil War.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez dodged questions Friday about the sexual assault allegations that have emerged against Virginia Democratic Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax, after the New York Democrat previously protested Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Ocasio-Cortez invited a sexual assault survivor, who made news after protesting Kavanaugh’s nomination to the Supreme Court, to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday. The representative said she has not looked into the allegations against Fairfax in a hallway interview on Capitol Hill.

“I have not looked at all into the situation,” Ocasio-Cortez said when asked if she believed Fairfax’s accuser.

This comes as five Democratic senators who condemned Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct allegations refused to acknowledge the allegations against Fairfax when asked by The Daily Caller News Foundation Thursday. Fairfax was hit with his second allegation of sexual misconduct Friday afternoon.

At this point in time the verb to Kavanaugh means to get your way if you are an obnoxious enough raping white supremacist.

I’m looking forward to the time that the House of Representatives actually investigates and impeaches Kavanaugh.

Then the verb to Kavanaugh will reflect the definition it deserves.
