Added a login box and removed the ugly plain login links.
I tested the registration and lost passwords with the new login box and it worked for me.

As of Friday, there is a choice of two editors – Visual & Text.
The Visual editor has some fancy formatting features and the Text editor is basic.

Visual: In the editor, on the left of the “insert image” icon, there is a toggle button to add another toolbar line to make it two rows.

In my opinion: The Visual editor is great when on a large screen (desktop or laptop) and the Text editor will probably suit those who use mobile devices.

Haven’t set it up yet. How did you change it? Gravatar?

I attempted to change my avatar using Gravatar as the edit profile suggests but it was far beyond my meager IT talents.  I’m anxious for a user friendly method to be incorporated in the forum.

Yeah, I am trying to find an easier way. But Gravatar is easy. Login with the same email you are using in your profile, upload your avatar and associate it with the email.

When I clicked on the Gravatar it asked me to create an account which I did and uploaded an avatar but have no idea how to copy that to here.  Your instructions above notwithstanding, and I’m sure it’s far easier than what I’m seeing, but I don’t get it.

Did you confirm the email I guess?

And then you need to click on the image to link it to the email address. And once you see your email address on Gravatar website alongside the avatar, your profile is set.

I admit it is rather unintuitive.

I think my problem is that the email I use for here won’t work with Gravatar.  Several years ago I created a WP account but never really used it, so when I tried to use that for a new Gravatar account it wouldn’t take it.

It wasn’t easy.  After I got through all the hoops, I couldn’t find the photo I was looking for in my files and decided to use one from the Web.  Everything I picked was apparently in a form that couldn’t be copied.  I finally found one that had its own URL and it Gravatar accepted it, but cropped the image so that it wasn’t presented in its entirety.  I settled for that.

I just wondered why no one else was using an icon, like maybe it had been discussed and dismissed and I wasn’t aware of it.

An easier process would be nice.
