Washington (CNN)On Sunday, President Donald Trump sent out 29(!) tweets and retweets. Which, in and of itself, is a remarkable thing to say about the chief executive of the United States. (A prolific tweeter and retweeter myself, I sent out 15 tweets on Sunday. And, relatedly, I am not the president of the United States.)
But, it’s not just the sheer quantity of Trump tweets and retweets that are so mind-boggling. It’s what he said in them. Here’s a brief summary:

The Federal Communications Commission or Federal Election Commission should investigate whether “Saturday Night Live” and late-night talk shows are in collusion with Democrats and/or Russia because they attack him so consistently.
Attacked late Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, for allegedly sending the FBI the Steele dossier before the election — and working with Democrats to do so. (Also, Trump called McCain — who, it’s worth noting, is dead — “last in his class” at the US Naval Academy.)
“What is he concerned about? Why does he go after people? There was a tragedy in New Zealand and everyone talked about the prime minister’s leadership and he knows he doesn’t have any.”
Over the weekend, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was heralded for her compassion and strength in the face of the horrific tragedy that left more than 50 people dead.
“I mean when he is looking in, he is looking to overcompensating, he is projecting,” she continued. “He seeing leadership by a woman doing an amazing job healing her country and all he is known for doing is dividing the country. So it stands out.He makes his comments — I don’t know if he knows it’s not the right thing but he doubles down on it. Then he just goes into a twist. It is the same thing about McCain. McCain is a hero and he went to Vietnam, he suffered in the camps, Donald Trump got out of Vietnam and is coward because of bone spurs.”

Prime Minister Aredern wore a hijab to a memorial service for those killed, massacred in her country and she didn’t bow down to Muslims, she showed strength in being able to honor them in that way and defying any white supremacists who would fault her for that, even Trump whether he would say so or not.
Would that America had a leader with the fortitude and wisdom, the ethical standards to do what is right. Sadly, we don’t.
