Residents of the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar in the West Bank received evacuation orders today, informing them they must leave voluntarily within a week, by October 1.

The Jahalin tribe originated in the Negev and was expelled to the West Bank in the 1950s. Since then, the residents wandered within the Jerusalem-Jericho region before gradually establishing permanent residence in Khan al-Ahmar, apparently in or around the 1970s, having been ethnically cleansed within living memory, they are being moved on again within occupied Palestine.

 

This is reminiscent of what happened to Jews when the Nazis occupied territory. The bitter irony is lost on Zionists today.

Pro-Israel German Chancellor expected to confront Israeli Prime Minister over planned demolition of Khan al-Ahmar

During her third visit to Israel this evening (Wednesday), Angela Merkel is expected to give Benjamin Netanyahu an earful regarding his government’s plan to ethnically cleanse Palestinian Bedouin from Khan al-Ahmar.

Since this operation is set to happen any day now, the German Chancellor who will be in Israel ostensibly for discussions on economics and cyber technology, will be bound to express some urgency regarding the fate of these West Bank Palestinians because the European Union has already formally condemned this ethnic cleansing, considering it “a grave breach of international humanitarian law”.

The Israelis like to pretend that criticism from European governments doesn’t bother them and, even though the Palestinian community will be undoubtedly demolished, in a constant struggle to appear legitimate, they prefer to be judged as law-abiding regardless of countless admonishments from the United Nations over the years.
