A Bill prohibiting the importation of Israeli goods produced in settlements in the Palestinian territories has passed in the Irish Upper House.
“This courageous step builds on the historic ties between Ireland and Palestine, as well as it shows the way forward for the rest of the European Union,” top Palestine Liberation Organization official Saeb Erekat said in a statement issued before the vote was taken.

All senators of the ruling conservative party voted against the bill so when it is sent to the lower house, a way will be found to block it during the five debates required before it can become law. Nevertheless, it is good to see the Irish senators have some spirit.
