While I’ve never read anything in the Constitution that allows a president to commit a crime I wonder what would happen if there is proof of this crime and a grand jury hands down a bill of indictment.

They didn’t dispute the whole story – just that the report had inaccuracies. It was a very vague statement. If the story is fake, Trump would sue them for libel.
