One of the biggest problems I routinely see are the people pushing for gun laws that don’t actually understand anything about firearms. From lawmakers who think a barrel shroud is “the shoulder thingy that goes up” to those who think you can shoot down a jumbo jet with an AR-15, there’s an awful lot of dumb that flies from the mouths of gun control advocates.
And, since we live in a country that values free speech, there’s not much we can do about it. Nor should there be, if I’m honest.
But what happens when those who actually make the laws don’t understand anything about firearms? Well, you get idiotic laws, that’s what.
Now, a Washington state lawmaker wants to change that. Well, probably.
State Sen. Phil Fortunato, R-Auburn, has introduced legislation in advance of the 2019 legislative session that would require lawmakers who draft gun legislation to be trained and pass a test.
“We have legislators drafting bills who have no idea how firearms work or any sense of firearm nomenclature,” Fortunato said. “When decision makers want to restrict someone’s constitutional rights, they shouldn’t go off half-cocked.”

And it should be like that – for responsible ownership of a weapon.
My post is about getting to be an expert on legislating gun laws but on other important issues like immigration, abortion or climate change, Harpo wants them to legislate as ignorant fucktards.

On that we agree.
I was a mandatory reporter for years for mentally ill patients admitted to a hospital for dangerousness. I got no questions wrong on the test wrong. It’s not unusual for it to take several tries to pass.

If you’re worried about lies why do you post so many, regarding gun control and everything else you post? You think it’s OK for you to post lies but no one else? How trumpish of you.

Participant::So Harpo, the fucking fool, is posting bullshit as truth again.
Per Snopes:
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been the subject of a number of false rumors and accusations since she became the youngest woman elected to congress. In January 2019, we came across yet another meme that attempted to paint the freshman lawmaker as inexperienced and uneducated, this time by falsely attributing a fake quote about gun rights to her:
The fake quote reads: “Owning guns is NOT a right… If it were a right, it would be in the Constitution.” – Ocasio-Cortez.
This is not a genuine quote from Ocasio-Cortez. It was fabricated and spread in an attempt to discredit the New York congresswoman.

Participant::Hey Harpo, I’m sure this may upset you but here are a few other lies by trumptards scared of this woman debunked by SNOPES:
Did Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Pass the ‘Change Unfit New Textbooks Act’?
On 20 January 2019 the ‘America’s Last Line of Defense’ posted a meme positing that freshman U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had passed a ‘Change Unfit New Textbooks’ Act (a puerile acronym) requiring that school textbooks be scrubbed of any mention of Confederate General Robert E. Lee:
This meme was a complete fabrication. As of this writing, Ocasio-Cortez (who, like all members of Congress, can only propose legislation, not “pass” a bill on her own) had not yet sponsored any bills in the House. She was listed as a co-sponsor of some fifteen bills, none of them related to textbooks or Robert E. Lee.
America’s Last Line of Defense is part of a network of websites and social media accounts that publishes political disinformation under the guise of proffering “satire.”
Did Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Say ‘Under Capitalism, Man Oppresses Man. Under Socialism, It’s Just the Opposite’?
The political opposition’s fixation with incoming Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York continued in December 2018 with the online sharing of a graphic that attempted to link her to a quote whose origins have been disputed.
The graphic, first posted a month earlier, showed a black-and-white picture of the congresswoman-elect alongside the phrase “Under capitalism, man oppresses man. Under socialism, it’s just the opposite.”
The meme was subsequently spread by a Facebook page listed for musician Ted Nugent, with the addition of the caption “Do not shut this woman up. This shit is gold”
We consulted Ocasio-Cortez seeking comment but have yet to hear back. However, not only did we find no record of her having made such a statement, the phrase itself is a misstated version of a much older phrase with unclear origins.
The original version — “Under capitalism man exploits man. Under socialism it’s just the opposite.” — has long been attributed to economist John Kenneth Galbraith, who passed away in 2006. But it has also been described in other accounts as an “old Soviet joke” or a “wry Russian joke,” including in Jules Archer’s 1977 book Police State: Could It Happen Here? — published 12 years before Ocasio-Cortez was born.
As we have previously chronicled, Ocasio-Cortez has been particularly targeted by mockery and false claims about her.

Did Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Say We Need to ‘Invent Technology That’s Never Been Invented’?
The internet’s obsession with Representative-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in the latter part of 2018 was exemplified by a meme reflecting an off-hand remark she made during a speech about environmentally-friendly jobs:
Although it’s true that Ocasio-Cortez, who represents the New York boroughs of the Bronx and Queens in the U.S. House of Representatives as of January 2019, did say those words during a speech, the remark was offered without context.
As documented by New York public radio station WNYC, Ocasio-Cortez made the comment during a 3 December 2018 televised town hall event in which she discussed her desire to see a “Green New Deal” — an initiative she said would generate jobs by tackling climate change:
Representative-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is pitching a “Green New Deal” that she says would overhaul U.S. energy use, reduce carbon emissions and create new jobs.
“We can put so many people to work,” Ocasio-Cortez told an audience at a televised town hall Monday night. “We need to refit so many pipes. We need to re-lay roads. We need to rebuild schools. We need to invent technology that’s never even been invented yet.”
Although the sentence seems awkwardly worded when considered alone, its meaning in the context of discussing the creation of jobs through the pioneering of new, environmentally-friendly technologies was reasonably clear.
A number of quotes have been misleadingly attributed to Ocasio-Cortez, so it’s understandable why readers questioned whether or not she had made this particular statement. In early December 2018, remarks made by President Donald Trump about his having a “very good brain” were tied to her via a meme. In August 2018, another meme falsely suggested that Ocasio-Cortez made a statement revealing she didn’t know the difference between billions and trillions.
At 29, Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest woman in U.S. history to be elected to Congress. She’s an outspoken progressive who comes from a working class background, and perhaps because of these differences she’s often the target of belittling rhetoric — from a spate of articles mocking her inability to afford rent in Washington, D.C., to critiquing her clothing choices.
Did Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Declare ‘I Have a Very Good Brain’?
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has faced unusually intensive scrutiny of her policy pronouncements and media appearances ever since her successful 2018 campaign for the U.S. House of Representatives in New York’s 14th congressional district.
In particular, Ocasio-Cortez has faced allegations that she lacks the necessary intellect to participate in serious policy debates. These are claims she and her supporters have consistently and firmly rejected, and which some observers have attributed to sexism and ageism — at 29 years old, Ocasio-Cortez is the youngest woman in American history to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.
Against that background, a meme emerged in late 2018 which appeared to show the Congresswoman-Elect touting her own intelligence with some garbled phrasing, quoting her as saying (with respect to her thoughts on foreign policy): “I’m speaking with myself, number one, because I have a very good brain and I’ve said a lot of things”.
In reality, the source of this quotation was not Ocasio-Cortez, but rather President Donald Trump. In March 2016, then-presidential candidate Trump appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program, in an interview which can be viewed below.
Co-host Mika Brzezinski queried the Republican front-runner about his foreign policy advisors, asking “Who are you talking to consistently, since we have some dire foreign policy issues percolating around the world right now? Who are you consulting with consistently, so that you’re ready on Day One?”
Trump replied as follows:
I’m speaking with myself, number one, because I have a very good brain and I’ve said a lot of things. In fact, in my book [The America We Deserve] in 2000, I talked about Osama Bin Laden … I listen to a lot of people, I talk to a lot of people, and at the appropriate time I’ll tell you who the people are.
So trumptards use a phrase to denigrate Ms. Ocasio-Cortez when it was actually said by their orange flavored hero.
