I would argue that the discovery and use of electricity was up there with the discovery of fire.  And bicycle is really a sub set of the wheel which has many implementations.  I would also think the discovery of electronics and the computer is a sub of electricity but up there with the subs of wheels.

Maybe the real item is physics in its most global sense.  And perhaps fire and electricity and electronics and airplanes and automobiles and wagons are all subset of physics.

What we need is a universal taxonomy.
