Shepard Smith exiting Fox News in surprise move, ready to 'begin a new chapter'

Shepard “Shep” Smith announced he’s leaving Fox News on Friday, a move that has stunned his colleagues and viewers. Smith, who had been at Fox News since its inception — and who had become one of the few voices on the network to disagree with Fox’s pro-Donald Trump commentators — had been serving the network’s chief news anchor, managing editor of the network’s breaking news unit and anchor of Shepard Smith Reporting.

In spite of comments from Smith saying it’s his decision I find it interesting that Attorney General and de facto Trump personal attorney Barr met with Murdoch one day and now Smith is gone.

I hope Bill is keeping a record of all of these personal little errands so that when Trump turns on him as he has so many of his loyal minions and he has to testify before Congress the truth will come out.

Shep was warned to stop attacking opinion hosts (especially Tucker) or he would be fired. He doubled down and paid the price today. It will not be hard for Fox to call up one of its other talents to replace him. However, Shep my find it hard to find another job paying big bucks that require him to only read a teleprompter.

Smith was much more than a reader and that you think that’s all he did shows your gross lack of perception of what is.

There is no trick. An employer can fire anyone whenever they like, for whatever reason and the fired employee has absolutely no grounds for a lawsuit.

There are only two exceptions:

1. There is a contract – and that contractual terms have not been violated by the employee.
2. Employer can’t fire an employee on certain reasons – like race, religion, gender etc.
