The Saudis wouldn’t have butchered the journalist in Istanbul if Obama was in office too. Obama wouldn’t have tolerated it IMO.

The Saudis see a maniac who can easily be bought over through his violations of the Emoluments clause and his blatant disregard of conflicting interests with the presidential powers Trump has – which translates into the Saudi escalation of Yemeni atrocities, their conflict with Qatar and now this criminal act of torturing and butchering of Kashoggi in their consulate in Istanbul.

Israel meanwhile is killing hundreds of unarmed Palestinian youngsters protesting against oppression with impunity. And what does Trump do? Quits from UN Human Rights Council to give Israel a free hand to do whatever it pleases.

And now Israel keeps expanding their illegal land grab on a daily basis with full blessing from Trump.

I agree that Donald Trump has devalued, to some extent, the U.S. presidency. Let us not kid ourselves, however; American foreign policy has long been on the wrong side of history since its support of the military dictatorship in South Vietnam. There wasn’t a Latin American military junta that was not liked and supported by American presidents and this extended to changing democratically elected governments to install such juntas, even comparing death squads to “the moral equivalent of our Founding Fathers”. When the Israelis were pounding Gaza in 2014, Barack Obama responded with the appalling statement “Israel has the right to defend itself.” Yes, Donald Trump is a disaster but the moral bar for U.S. presidents has been very low for years.
