The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre
3 Stars (So sue me already.)
I love old movies; The Thin Man series, Abbot and Costello, Laurel and Hardy, The Marx Brothers (I tend to zone out during the singing numbers of those) the great Cary Grant movies such as Arsenic and Old Lace and Topper. . . see a pattern here? Comedies. The dramas, not so much. I have only seen the first half of Gone With The Wind and I don’t feel cheated. So too, Treasures of the Sierra Madre. There were enough stereotypes that it made me cringe at times but overall, it was just a drama with a bit of melodrama. Not bad, just not, for me, a real winner. Of the three main stars I thought Holt was the best. Oh well, I guess it’s just a matter of taste.
